Butter Every Week

The goal is to make my butter intake by running...

Okay, there is a substance in grass and some vegetables called beta-carotene; in short, it is what gives butter its yellow color. It is fat-soluble; therefore, when the fat separates from the butter-milk, the beta-carotene stays with the fat. When butter looks more yellow, it is because the cows were fed fresh grass instead of hay, silage, or grain.

Shaking the jar makes the fat molecules clump together into butter. As the fat is separated from the cream, what’s left is buttermilk. Next time, I’ll store it for some pancakes or some блины.

Butter #2

Today was weird. I entered the cafe, and I had way more energy than everyone around me. I was feeling good. I woke up late and arrived early anyway… I was so ready to run until the moment the run started hahahaha.

WTF happened?????

Everyone was going so fast, or was I slow? From an early moment, I was able to understand this was going to be a challenging run. So the mindset was to continue, slower if necessary, but NO STOPPING until the run was over.

At some point, I saw other great runners falling behind like me, and that helped me understand it was not just me… was it us? or was it them?

I decided to support the last one and assume that they were just going really fast. I pushed myself to go as fast as them for as long as possible. This might have happened after the second half of the run (no idea where, because I don’t track my runs).

My legs were hurting the whole time, and I’m proud to say that at no point did I have thoughts of stopping. All the time, my mindset was clear: forward, until the end.

And the end arrived. With 13.58 km and an average pace of 5’33”, I’m able to say: butter is ready. After rinsing and storing it, I took some coffee for me and for Sveta in my thermos, packed a banana and some cookies for her, and left for her house to store the butter.

Butter was in my mind most of the day. So at 20:00, left the University, bought some bread, and went to her place to taste the butter.

Was amazing, I’ll try to keep this habit for as long as possible, or at least until it stops being interesting.

This week’s recipe: bread with cheese and double butter, because I added so little the first time that the only noticeable thing was its smell. Warning: Be careful, the butter might be so good that you might end up breaking some of her plates by not having your mind in the right place.

First Butter

First Butter

This is the first time I made butter… And because of my lack of preparation, I have no way to try it. But that’s fine; because, I’m really happy that this kind of thing is possible. ME AND DARIA RUNNING WITH SOME CREAM IN OUR BACKS AND GENERATING BUTTER OUT OF IT… THIS IS LIKE WTF hahahahaha

JUST HAPPY :D

We had a really nice run. We were like 35~, and the weather was nice. My friend Daria (which was the source of this idea) would say, the weather is свежо or fresh (in english). No idea how much we ran; but, by the fact only 27 finished, it was fast hahahaha.

The coffee in Sku was one of my favorite there: Salvador. A little bit fruity, not really strong in terms of bitterness.

I think of making a recipe with butter every week, just to run and give my self the chance to be creative and bond with people.

This week recipe: butter for a friend. Steps: Make butter over while running. Have nowhere to store it for +12 hours. Give it to the person responsible for the genius idea.

Ok, I made butter for the first time on the 31st of March, 2026. And I plan to make butter every week from now on.

Thanks to Daria for the idea.
